I've been reading some of the pieces put out by pro-Palestinian thinkers, trying to understand their POV. In our current zeitgeist of glorifying victimhood, claiming to be the greater victim gets you more international sympathy, and this seems to be the thrust of the argument: that the (evil, fascist) zionists have been planning genocide against the "Palestinians" (or Arab population, since Palestine was only declared a state in 1988 & that was from a meeting in Algiers) from the beginning.
They refuse to condemn the Hamas massacre of Oct 7 - while stating that this does not condone it - because they don't want to give any credence to the idea that this war started on 7 Oct.
People seem to have lost their moral compass - war is one thing, and bad enough. But it is accepted in International Law that war does not include cold-blooded murder, certainly not of civilians. And torture is considered a crime in every jurisdiction (even the US military make sure they keep their torture chambers outside the US, so they are not subject to US law).
There will never be peace while the Palestinians keep nursing their hatred over generations, and keep fuelling it by prioritising resources for their terrorist operations.
As my parents––who were in Palestine from early 1930s said, there will never be peace there. In those days it was with the Arabs. There no "Palestinians" there. Isn't it fascinating, yet demonic at the same time, the people who they are accusing of committing genocide are actually on the receiving end of genocide. You just have to see it in Hamas' charter and in the policies of Abbas on the West Bank who has a "pay for play" scheme, whereby families are rewarded for committing terrorist attacks against Jews.
