Sometimes We Need To Take A Forceful Stand On Covid

Too often since Covid arrived and upended our lives, we sat by meekly and allowed others to run roughshod over us. I've been as guilty of this as others. This disempowers us and allows the authorities to exert even greater control over our lives.

Going along to get along is often a safe strategy to keep the status quo. We usually don't want to offend people, nor do we want to risk being fined. Even worse, we don't want to be suspended—in the case of doctors—or risk arrest. This continuous dynamic is where we self-censor and become subservient to the state. We actually change who we are and exist perpetually brainwashed.

How do you explain the massive number of people wearing masks, inside or outside, despite all the studies showing they are ineffective against aerosol viral transmission? For many, masks have become an apparel item.

This brings me to a recent episode in a dental office. I was going for my semi-annual dental hygiene appointment. I have been seeing this dentist for some 25 years or more. When I entered the reception, the atmosphere was different. I was asked if I had a mask by the receptionist. No, I didn't have one. Then a lady waiting to go in turned to me and asked, "Aren't you going to put on a mask?" The receptionist also asked me if I would put on a mask. I replied to them, "Do you realize multiple studies show that masks don't work? If you feel a mask is protecting you, why do you care if I wear one." The lady responded, "If I get Covid, it will kill me!" I replied, "I'm out of here," and walked out.

The next day, I found a dentist close to home in the town where I now live, and when I walked into this office to sign a release form, I noticed something. None of the patients wore masks.

Wearing a mask at a dental office is obviously an individual choice. In the dental chair, your mouth is open wide for long periods. So is the virus suddenly gone but not gone if you sit in the reception maskless?

You see, I felt it was time to make a stand. The dental office that I left no longer served my values by trying to impose mask-wearing when it wasn't necessary.

There is a lesson in this. We need to make a stand against Covid tyranny because if you don't take power, someone else will overpower you. People will try to minimize and discount you. This is the strategy of the Covid authoritarians. In the end, you will give up and submit. I say you don't give up; stand up for your rights.
