Putin has a point. Several points. NATO was formed as an alliance against the Soviet Union - but when the USSR collapsed, it would have made sense to bring Russia on board as an ally, not keep treating her like an enemy. NATO has been building up troops & military installations that threaten Russia's borders - any country would object to that. While it is of course possible that Russia is at the start of an empire building spree, it seems more likely that Putin is simply doing what he says he is doing: supporting the breakaway regions of the Donbas (as they requested of him) and trying to keep NATO off the Russian borders, while maintaining access to the ports on the Black Sea.

What was America's attitude in 1962 when Russia put missiles in Cuba, 90 miles away from Florida? Almost had a nuclear war. This was totally preventable.

The key part of your comment is "almost". Diplomatic negotiation managed to avert it.

It is very problematic for my brain to love the US (because of beautiful land, lack of homogeneity in all facets, religious freedoms) and also see how much destruction and damage has been wrought by the paving and poisoning. Too much bad chemistry and fossil fuels...I am cheering the end of them and all the products they enable, which are many....my answer certainly would not be fracking for the last tiny bits anymore, now we know what to do to transition in many ways. It will mean an ancient sense of reliance. 4 centuries ago? Part of me sort of feels like we are losing our lease on earth for breach of contract....but I digress. Trying to hold in my head how bad we are for all this poisoning, only Seneff and scientists of her ilk can even explain what its doing to our bodies...(Geoffry Smith GMO Microbiome)....I think its what they call the cognitive dissonance....oh, and thinking my family and friends are time bombs, that is quite dissonant.

I'm inclined to blame the monotheist religions that we have. With a male god, or two, at the top. We get Zeus with no Athena, Hera. And Apollo with no sister.

I heard that when the US gov was forcing treaties on the Native Americans, they would all meet in some room....and the natives would ask....where are your women? They did not understand how just the men were entrusted to make the biggest decisions...I cannot attribute the story but I believe it.......half the story missing....https://youtu.be/Go6FYVw6tTo

the Who Athena.!...bon weekend....

With every war they say, this is the most modern war. Each war is the most modern war.
