Putin might have invaded anyway but if Ukraine had taken the non-aligned route and with the economic clout shifting eastwards due to resources that the Borg like so much (EVs basically) then Ukraine might have got rich off the proceeds. But they took the most corrupt route.
Yes, it could all have been pre-empted. I've mentioned on previous newsletters where the U.S. has acted in violation of international law in its own hemisphere. The obsession with Russia bad, U.S. good is distorting any rationality. Meanwhile, the U.S. is negotiating with Iran (a terror state). All upside-down.

It was all preventable. In the fog of war, we are not getting all the information. So Zelensky is a hero, while millions of his citizens suffer. Sure Putin is a tyrant, but America and Ukraine brought it on, with their refusal to address Russian concerns on their border. They saw that Putin was building up his forces and kept repeating his threats, but no, because it's Russia you don't negotiate. Remember, the Soviet Union; you had to deal with them. Oh, by the way, remember when Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton bombed Libya and killed Quadaffi? "We came, we saw, he died...ha, ha, ha". Libya is now a ruined state run by terror groups. All is not what it seems.
No one is a hero in my opinion. I cannot stand to see the thousands upon thousands being disbanded from their simple lives and meagre expectations; with untold Human suffering. Greed, bravado and sheer stupidity.
