Steve Kirsch put out a newsletter on his substack , Elton John: Why not call for government authorities to engage in a discussion? He commented on Elton John quitting Twitter.
So very true, I don't know how many actors whose performances and movies I have enjoyed I now go out of my way to avoid. Whoopi Goldberg being a stand out for her idiotic statements and hyperbole on the View. I have begun to listen to country music, because they tend to be far less likely to express their political views and quite frankly if they do, they carry much less vitriol than rock musicians who tend to swing far left. And comedians, that's just a lost art now, do to the work mob. I remember someone once asked Johnny Carson why his comedy was never political, and his response was simple... I am an entertainer, not a politician. Pretty simple and straight forward, it only other comics would take his advice, with a few notable exceptions.
Yes I agree Roxanne. Johnny Carson used to mock both sides and remember Don Rickles? He used to mock every race colour or creed. Yet no one was offended. We laughed. Today there is no sense of humour.
Yes, I remember Carson doing that, but it was in a more good natured kind of ribbing as opposed to the character assassination that takes place today. And you're right no one was offended. The answer is always easy, if you don't like it don't listen. Hence my point about why I've have made decisions about what movies or tv I watch and what musicians I listen too. We still have a choice today, let's keep it that way.
One of the worst in the uk has been Russel Howard the comedian. I used to enjoy his comedy but then his shows turned entirely into him standing their telling the audience how stupid antivaxers were. I had to stop watching. Even just seeing his face in an advertisement makes me cringe
Russel has just done a 30 minute interview special with greta thundberg. He is about as satantic as it gets, whether he knows it or not. I suspect he's a just a useful idiot who never had any principles or backbone.
The reason why the big guns like Elton get involved in these messages is because its their job to steer public opinion while the masses think your job is to entertain. The lower ranks of celeb just do what they are told to do to keep their master allowing them a platform, but once you get to Elton/Jagger/Grohl status I can't believe you can't know full well what you are doing. What is entertainment anyway if it is purely to guide and manipulate public opinion and discussion to follow the current narrative.
Bottom line here is Elton does not support free speech, and that defines him for what he really is. History shows us the bad actors who eliminated free speech and what the consequences were.
Music is pure and a mathematical language. Talking about a topic in which he has no expertise is folly.

It shows their ignorance.

I get the same horrible feeling when I see him as I do when I see the NZ PM Jacinda Ardern. Utter disgust and contempt
There are so many of them.
Sorry Ely, for linking another substack, but did you see this from Joel?
Jacinda gets a mention.
