It's a great question, America's cosiness with Iran. What's in it for America or the rest of the world?
The Biden administration is just following the Obama policies, so it's just a third Obama term, with a continuation of much of the same personnel and policies. By their actions, those in the U.S. administration––including Australia––seek to appease Iran. In fact, Australia has diplomatic relations with what can only be described as a terror state. They are spreading their radical Islamism not just in the Middle East but throughout the Western World.
As opposed to Donald Trump, who implemented a maximum pressure campaign on Iran, the Obama and Biden teams tend to put more pressure on Israel than on Iran, which has been instrumental in taking many American lives. Remember, too, this is the regime which took American embassy staff as hostages in 1979 and held them for 444 days. They were released the day the new President, Ronald Reagan, gave his inauguration speech. I wonder why? Tyrants don't respect the type of weakness displayed during the Jimmy Carter presidency. The perception was that Reagan was going to take military action against Iran. These bullies only understand one thing––power. But it's even worse currently with American policy towards Iran.
Why is it that they want to realign the Middle East so that Iran is empowered with its stated goal to eliminate Israel? Do they not believe what these people say, that they are on a jihad? If Biden and company do, then they are delusional, thinking that soft diplomacy with Iran is somehow going to change their extremist position. They somehow believe they can bribe their way with the world's leading state sponsor of jihad.
There is, perhaps, a more sinister philosophy at work, that somehow the West and its white populace are colonialists and need to be taken down several notches and that countries like the United States and Israel need to be disempowered.
So, in fact, this movement aligns with the Mullahs' interests while putting the screws to both Israel and the United States. This rationalizes for the administration the resumption of the Iranian nuclear deal and the release of billions of dollars to Iran, which everyone knows is used to finance Iran's terrorist proxies around the world. Can America be that stupid? It's not stupidity but by design.
Iran enriching 'worrying quantities' of uranium, in further blow for nuclear deal
The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, or JCPOA, was meant to limit Iran's uranium enrichment. Still, even the UN admits it's a joke. Iran, even since the Obama presidency, restricted access to inspectors. Meanwhile, they continue to increase uranium enrichment, and experts believe that they are months away from commencing the construction of a nuclear bomb. How well is that going to work out? Does anyone for one minute think that Iran would not hesitate to provide a small atomic device to one of its proxies, such as Hezbollah and plant even a small device on a rocket heading into Israel? This is a nihilistic regime capable of anything.
Unfortunately, the administration is imbued with a whole slew of Iran sympathizers rooted in a regressive leftist worldview. We see that despite the presence of American warships in waters in the Red Sea and Persian Gulf, the Houthis from Yemen feel emboldened to attack international shipping. America's response is tepid. Are we giving up international shipping lanes to the terrorist as well?
Despite two massive carriers in the region that are supposed to be a deterrence to attacks, there have been both attacks on military assets along with commercial shipping. The terrorist regimes smell weakness, and the U.S. is undoubtedly projecting weakness. It has done so during the whole Biden presidency.
The policy points to the fact that in America, the extreme leftists hold a lot of power in the administration. It's all part of Ibrahim Kendi's "white supremacist"-Critical Race Theory argument, which has helped to fuel BLM––itself as an antisemitic group––so they prevail over the Judeo-Christian West.
It's also interesting that the Biden administration gives lip service to the massive uptick in Jew-hatred in America while decrying Islamophobia? It's strange as 2% of the American population is Jewish but is on the receiving end of 62% of the hate crimes.
If not Iranian assets, some people embedded in the Biden administration certainly behave that way. Of course, they appease Iran in any way they can.
Senior CIA official posted pro-Palestine propaganda on social media: report
Amy McFadden is a senior intelligence official at the CIA who formerly did daily presidential briefings. She changed her Facebook cover photo in mid-October, showing a man waving a Palestinian flag, stating "Free Palestine." Also, her LinkedIn page showed that she supported an International Crisis Group. This anti-Israel organization has been linked to an Iranian propaganda network. She was one of the top people overseeing intelligence disseminated across the CIA.
Changing her Facebook postings after the October 7 massacre shows where her sentiments lie. It makes her, by default, a useful tool for the Iranians and their proxies.
Then there is the case of Rob Malley.
Suspicion surrounds ex-Iran envoy Rob Malley after Israel attack.
During the 2008 presidential campaign for Barack Obama, he was suspended from the campaign because it came out that he was speaking to Hamas leaders. Biden hired Malley as special envoy to Iran. He was put on leave for leaking high-security documents.
Gabriel Noronha is a former special adviser on Iran at the State Department. He stated, "Malley and others created an incredibly permissive environment for Hamas, for Iran, to do all these things." These people in the Biden and Obama administrations have a distorted view that appeasing terrorists and rewarding them will change their behaviour.
HAGERTY, WICKER, COLLEAGUES DEMAND ACCOUNTABILITY ON IRAN-LINKED DOD OFFICIAL
Also closely aligned with Malley is Iranian-born Ariane Tabatabai. She is in the Department of Defense and involved in Special Operations, where she has a very high-level security clearance that she has retained despite being named in an Iranian influence campaign in leaked emails. Republicans have referred to her as an Iranian spy.
So perhaps the answer to why the U.S. is so enamoured with Iran is that the government has been infiltrated by pro-Iranian actors. It wouldn't be a problem if Iran was a typical country. However, it is no normal country. It is a theocracy with a serious fundamentalist policy. In their own words, they want to destroy the Little Satan––Israel and the Big Satan––America.
The isolationists in America say, well, that's just a Middle East problem. That is no longer true. Iranian tentacles have spread into Central and South America through its proxy, Hezbollah. The Houthis have stirred up trouble for Saudi Arabia. Iranian agents are operating in Europe and in America, with its essentially open border policies allowing Iranian agents into the country.
Iran sees American weakness and is cashing in on the foolish Biden policies. Once Iran goes nuclear, look out. These are not rational people; there are no human rights in Iran, and they regularly execute people in public. And if you are a homosexual or lesbian and you get caught in Iran, it's death from the top of a building.
Unless America wakes up and throws out the leftist Democrat Party from power, it will be business as usual when it comes to Iran with disastrous consequences.
Our government is the most corrupt that I've ever witnessed in my lifetime.
Thanks for laying that out so succinctly Ely.
Scary stuff.
