Whatever Happened To Equal Justice Of The Law?
Until Covid in 2020, we regularly travelled to the U.S. without hesitation. Despite its imperfections, I always assumed that America strove to be a free country with justice for all. It always welcomed people from around the world. It didn’t matter what your race, creed or colour. America, after all, had this beautiful document, the Constitution and a Bill of Rights. Now I am not so sure.
Today, American justice has become a partisan issue; justice is in the eye of the beholder. If you are associated with the name Trump, you are guilty. Guilty of what? Well, it doesn’t matter. The new Justice Department will sic the FBI on you. The attack on conservatives has been going on since the Obama administration. The IRS went after those on the right side of politics.
You might remember the names Roger Stone—raided at 6:00 am by the FBI—or George Papadopoulos and General Michael Flynn. The FBI entrapped the latter two into lying.
Most recently, Steve Bannon, a Trump confidant and ally in the previous administration, was charged and convicted for contempt of Congress. Why? Because he refused to testify before a one-sided committee, the infamous January 6 Committee. Previously, Congress accused Attorney General Eric Holder of the same thing. What was the result? Nothing, no trial, no conviction. In the Bannon trial just adjudicated, he was not even allowed to confront his accusers.
Meanwhile, murderers, arsonists, and rioters in America are getting away with—well, murder. Again, what happened to equal protection?
Section 1 of the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution states the following:
“All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.”
The term “equal protection” is a joke in Washington, D.C. The American capital voted overwhelmingly for the Democrat Party. Joe Biden received 93% of the vote. To believe that you can have a fair trial from judges and jury pools in the district is ludicrous.
The 6th Amendment states the following:
“In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence.”
Tucker Carlson touched on this very well in a recent monologue.
If they can charge government officials at a whim, depending on their politics, they can go after any perceived enemy. A little while ago, I wrote about how America is becoming more and more like China—a totalitarian state. In the Biden administration, the crushing of political enemies is on steroids. There is an adage, “The truth shall set you free.” I think in today’s America, it is upside-down. “The truth shall imprison you.”
For the first time in my life, I have started asking myself if it’s safe coming to America.
Funny. I drive white cars because I believe in white supremacy. White cars are cooler in the summer heat. The fact of the matter is that in these modern times, it's systemic Black privilege that is more widespread.
As an aside, a few years ago they were constructing a new house behind my house. I was talking to the brick layer, and he was telling me, "These bricks are the wrong size." They looked like more or less standard bricks to me, and I asked, "How can they be the wrong size? They are all the same."
He says, "I know my math."
His brick work was rather sloppy from my perspective. There was a lot of cement on the face of the bricks. Eventually they fired the guy when it came to finishing the bricks that were above the garage doors. The Mexicans that came in to finish did much nicer work.
It is very sad but true. The entire World is now being run on Policies that are put out there by people, who you would seemingly consider educated! Not so! The start of BLM has fired the moronic part of Society that thinks we OWE them a living. "Do Gooders" and tyranny has to shoulder the blame!!!
