A 1961 movie, Underworld USA, was about the infiltration of a crime syndicate by a man seeking revenge for the murder of his father; like many American movies of that era and since, the genre of gangsterism has been a feature of American cinema. The mob, or mafia, was a centrepiece of many movies and reflected the real world.
Today, the mafia has been replaced by an underworld so broad and vicious in scope and breadth that even ex-Presidents are no longer immune from its tentacles. Take the case of Donald Trump.
The deep state or swamp that Trump maligned—deservedly—has come back with a vengeance. Trump didn't drain the swamp, but it's now draining him. The campaign memes such as "lock her up" and "Mexico will pay for the wall" espoused by Trump's campaign were just slogans never acted on.
Trump's detractors in the form of the Biden-Justice Department are like a crime organization in pursuit of its victim. The assault on Donald Trump has been extensive, and he is facing so many criminal indictments that it could very well be that he could face prison. Famed legal expert Alan Dershowitz predicted as much in his book, Get Trump.
The irony is that the actual criminal is the current President and his son, who has parlayed political access into millions of dollars. As far as the American media is concerned, there is nothing to see here; it's all about Trump.
To some extent, Trump hasn't helped himself. Playing fast and loose with classified documents and opening his mouth foolishly at times has been grist for the legal vultures. He should have known, since the determination by the deep state to take him down, starting in 2015, that they would keep coming after him.
Now Trump faces his most significant threat, the indictment relating to the January 6 "insurrection". Trump's charges include "conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of an attempt to obstruct an official proceeding and conspiracy against rights".
Cruz: Judge assigned to January 6 case 'relentlessly hostile to Donald Trump'
The judge Cruz and others refer to is Tanya Chutkan, an Obama appointee. She is not only a blatantly partisan Democrat but also a Trump hater. She has meted sentences longer than the Justice Department requested for January 6. Following the trials of the January 6 defendants, journalist Julie Kelly has seen Chutkan in action. As Kelly has stated, "she has open contempt for Trump oozing out of her". Many Trump supporters are languishing in prison. Some were sentenced to four years for merely trespassing. This is all designed to "look over here" because over there, all the criminality is so evident in the Biden family clan.
One goal, the weaponization of the U.S. Government, is to prevent Trump from becoming President a second time. The weapons are not handguns or machine guns like the Underworld, though I bet some wish they could take him out like the gangsters of old. Now they are using every legal trick and deception, even subverting the Constitution to remove Trump.
The question is whether, despite people's sympathy for Trump and the injustice, looking objectively, is he the best person to be the next President? Trump reframed American politics in 2016 and during most of his presidency. However, Trump isn't humble enough to realize that it's time for a younger man without the threats of multiple indictments hanging over him. Trump could go to prison with so many numerous charges going on. Regardless, his focus is on his enemies and the stolen election and less so on the future of his country. It's only natural. His mind will be preoccupied with all the legalities to do with prosecutions and the time, money and energy spent fighting the mob.
The Democrats are determined to muddy the waters so that if Trump is the nominee––which is what they want––, his image will be soiled, especially with a trial just before the election; that is their goal. Their mission is to incite hatred with so much anti-Trump rhetoric that he will be a spent force as far as independents are concerned.
Trump also needs to be mindful that if he is convicted on any of the multiple charges, he may depend on whoever is President, possibly DeSantis, to pardon him. You can bet that no Democrat will pardon him. So it's perplexing that he keeps attacking his chief rival, slurring his name, but also lying about what the man is.
We are seeing a modern version of the American Underworld at work. They have their hitmen––basically the whole weight of the government––to take out their enemy with false legal charges, of which most are just thought crimes. Taken to its logical conclusion, if Trump succumbs and is found guilty, then the polarization in America will be on steroids.
Ely, great post!
I think that what we are realizing now as the wool is pulled back from our eyes is that the greatest criminal network is the international banking and business cartel, represented nicely today with the World Economic Forum, and they own the banking system, it's private, they print the money, create the interest rates, take our taxes, and set the policies. The entire administrative states of all the western governments are set up to serve international business and always has been.
I suspect as you focus on the American government you are American.
Here's a thought for you.
I realized recently reading the history of the Constitution and the Federalist papers that the founding fathers who advocated for the Constitution were advocating for a centralized federal government so America could take its place on the world stage. But that is not what the people fought the 1776 war for. They wanted freedom from tyranny.
But the Federalists wanted a unified America from the 13 colonies, and a centralized power structure which we see today is no different to the British monarchies centralized power structure under The Crown Corporation and the monarchy!
So it made me wonder if the entire 1776 revolution was a con - they used the dissatisfaction of free men and women to fight the war to seize America, unify the 13 colonies into one federal government system under the Constitution claiming it was for the people, but in reality it was the route to the very corruption we have today - and it is the same issue - the oligarchs running the show, which is what the Federalist founding fathers were - oligarchs.
It begs the question - Was the American Constitution a Con?
Food for thought.
