Before March 21, I focused on all things related to the Covid-Industrial-Complex, which extended to government overreach in many areas of our lives. Then, my wife and I went on a holiday. It appeared as if we had entered another world.
While away, I focused on travel and barely turned on a TV; mostly, it was the weather channel in America. There was no concern about politics, Covid, or economic affairs. It got me thinking: was the world I had left an illusion, or was the world I had entered seeing family and friends and experiencing new places? So, there is a dichotomy in life. What you focus on, you tend to get more of. If you change your focus, you get less of the former. But both worlds exist simultaneously.
Whether the people were in Canada, the U.S. or Fiji, they were going on with their daily lives. There was no awareness of illegal immigrants, vaccine injury, the national debt or the Trump-Biden battle. Families played with their children, and sport seemed on people's minds with the upcoming ice hockey playoffs. On the surface, the world seemed the same as it had always been.
Quantum theory tells us that nothing exists on the most fundamental, subatomic level until we observe or measure it. The French philosopher Descartes expressed it philosophically with, "I think therefore I am."
So, two worlds are operating at the same time. One is the world of terrorism, Trump's trial dramas, students taking over universities, and international conflict. The other world is of loving relationships, exploring the natural world and enjoying uplifting experiences.
One world is dark and retrogressive, while the other is about enlightenment and growth. Which one is real, and which one is false? I know which one I want to think about!
Some might say, "Ely, you must live in the real world, not the world of illusion." The real world may just be what you choose it to be.
This is the reason I limit the amount of violence, thrillers and even health dramas or documentaries I watch on Tv/stream but I think following independent media/thought surely brings more freedom of thought and speech, as long as you don’t use the information just to feel angry and aggrieved? It does matter where your attention flows but as per Jung the shadow side does not go away for not looking at it.
Wisdom, wisdom, wisdom: thanks Ely
