I want to describe my personal interaction with my local city council pertaining to solar panels.
We have 27 solar panels on our roof that provide 8 kilowatts of solar power. Our only reason for getting them was purely financial. The panels pay for their initial installation cost in three years. We didn’t get the panels installed because of ‘catastrophic climate change’.
I don’t accept the climate change hysteria, meaning I don’t believe the oceans will submerge high-priced coastal properties, nor do most people who live adjacent to the sea believe it. The rapid rise in property prices along the coast far outweighs those inland. I also don’t think that we are going to burn up, as claimed by the climate change zealots.
The Australian government is obsessed with reaching net zero emissions by 2035—or is it 2050? They keep moving the goalposts. At the same time, they refuse to consider nuclear energy, which doesn’t emit CO2–if that is what they believe to be a danger.
Meanwhile, India is burning more coal than the U.S. and Europe combined, and it is developing many coal-fired plants to cope with its domestic demand. China is similarly in on coal. Australia is tiny compared to these two giant powerhouses. Yet, we claim to need to take the moral high ground as if we will save the planet.
We’ve heard of the typical hypocrisy, whereby the elites fly in their private jets to climate change conferences, emitting tons of CO2 into the atmosphere, or people who are climate change enthusiasts live in lavish homes with a large carbon footprint. I recently experienced hypocrisy thanks to my local city council.
I contacted the council by phone a week ago asking if they could trim a branch obscuring my solar panels in the morning when the winter sun is further northward, casting a shadow on them. A couple of days ago, I received a written response, which incidentally was addressed to someone named Marie. We have no Marie in our residence. They are obviously confusing the name and address. Here is their letter with relevant personal information redacted.
Interestingly, in the 6th bullet point, they state they will not prune trees to increase street lighting to private property. On the contrary, they did just that six months ago when a tree at the front of our property had overgrown to the extent that it obscured the street lamp. After 12 months of pestering the council, they finally removed the tree six months ago.
I have just responded to their letter in the language they should understand. Try not to gag when you read my letter below:
I wanted to speak their language. After all, they go on about reducing emissions, carbon footprint, etc. Will they come to the party? Probably not. Are governments serious about climate change, or is it one giant boondoggle making money for interested parties? Do they just use the climate change narrative when it suits them? Climate change is a government and private industry collaboration; the objective is more money for interested parties, just as COVID made billions for Big Pharma. Similarly, the government is in on the act, with departments expressly set up to give the illusion that they will save the planet. Don’t you just love bureaucracy?
Great article Ely... speaking of India and China, where is all our stuff made?
Who owns those factories (the elites)?
Who is making us deindustrialise and go carbon neutral (those same elites)?
Why do the elites allow fossil fuels and cheap energy (and slave labour) to make their products in China?
Why would they not threaten to take their factories out of these countries unless they also subscribe to the climate agenda?
I suspect these countries are totally owned and dependant on the elites (in fact I'd say they are owned by the elites, anything China does is at the behest of their WEF masters... Hence the rollout of social credit scores and surveillance there first), so why aren't the elites following their own rules for the rest of us, given China etc are the biggest emitters of supposed climate changing carbon?
There's a yearly WEF meeting in Switzerland and China, the linkages are seemingly clear to this elite cabal, why are they not following the same rules re carbon 🤔... Because if it was so clear that emissions are killing the planet, surely China would be first can off the rank to slash emissions?
Master wordsmanship!!!
