The image above is a sign that the nervous system is not functioning properly, which concerns chiropractors. Let’s leave that for a moment and relate it to other aspects of the natural world.
We all know that atoms exist; it has been part of our education for many decades. But before we knew that fact, the Greeks in ancient times had theorized that there were tiny indivisible particles which they called “atomos”. So we had a theory that had not been “proven”. But then, at the turn of the 20th century, the atom and its components were discovered, and quantum physics helped to identify how particles such as the electron behaved.
Now because of technology, we can actually see atoms.
This image described in the June 2021 edition of Scientific American is a sample magnified 100 million times. This is scientific confirmation of what was previously a theory. An atom is several hundred million times smaller than a virus which is, in turn, much smaller than a bacterium.
So because something isn’t yet 100% confirmed scientifically, it doesn’t mean it isn’t valid. Medical practice constantly uses treatments considered to be more positive than negative. These are not true scientific discoveries but are based on empiricism; observation of patient effects.
So it is with the chiropractic profession. Daniel David Palmer, a self-styled magnetic healer, started to delve into the spine at its inception. It just so happened that a janitor who worked in the same building as Palmer related the fact that he had stooped over 17 years prior, heard a pop in his neck and then started to lose his hearing. Palmer proceeded to push on the lump on his spine. He found that it reduced in prominence, and the janitor related that immediately, his hearing started to improve––he could hear. Now there could be some mythology and folklore surrounding this event; however, any chiropractor in practice has had patients relate that their hearing improved.
In the Journal of Chiropractic/Osteopathy, the following study determined that hearing can improve with chiropractic care. For some, it’s the condition of tinnitus which can impair hearing. Chiropractic adjustments have been known to reduce tinnitus in many cases. Some studies have been reported in journals, such as this one from the Journal of Chiropractic & Manual Therapies, in January 2006.
Improvement in hearing after chiropractic care: a case series
In conclusion, the author stated the following:
“The observations documented in this case series provide limited support to previous works indicating that, when hearing is tested immediately after a single chiropractic adjusting visit, hearing may be improved in both ears.”
The question is, what is the mechanism? The premise of chiropractic, or the initial theory, is that spinal misalignment or subluxations impinge on the nervous system because of the close relationship between nerves and the spine. D.D. Palmer, in theory, was correct, but the mechanism of explanation was rather primitive because, in 1895, we didn’t know about the subtle way in which nerve interference could occur.
The image at the top of the temperature along the spine is thanks to the infrared technology available today. We know that temperature imbalances are reduced as we correct people’s spines.
The part of chiropractic from its inception is that Subluxations affect the Autonomic Nervous System, which is the internal system controlling all organs, even the superficial blood vessels, which in turn are what control our surface temperature.
More recently, experiments have shown how spinal misalignment––and changes to it influence nerve signals. The idea is to establish if spinal misalignment significantly impacts the nervous system compared to those whose spines align relatively well.
The image below is one of poor alignment, as is measurable by the two angles.
