"While there were atrocities committed", you say? Oh, I see, I guess you get the truth from people like Roger Waters. Amazing how people who haven't lived in the area seem to be experts. I happen to have been born in Palestine; not the made-up area which was part of Jordan in the 1947 UN partition and then miraculously, a "Palestinian" people showed up.

Regardless, the Israelis had attempted peace overtures from day one, but repeatedly the Palestinians didn't want it. Every attempt at negotiating a settlement has been met by Palestinian instransigence. The fact is the Arabs in Palestine committed atrocities against Jews in Palestine since the 1920s as occurred in other countries. The word is "pogrom". There was no modern state of Israel the, though Israel preceded Islam by 3000 years. For the most part they are Jew haters, so peace is no possible. It seems neither Egypt nor Jordan wants the Palestinians because they are radicals. Jordan expelled them in the 1970's and Gaza was part of Egypt after the 1947 partition and they don't want Gaza back.

The latest conspiracy theory is the Israelis actually set it up as an excuse to initiate a war. Wow, blood libel is rampant. Amazing how the Israelis are warning Gazan civilians to leave the areas to are going to bom by phone texts and pamphlets, meanwhile the subhumans (no other word for Hamas) intentionally place themselves within civilian areas using civilian deaths as a progaganda tool. It's a total perversion of morality not to mention international law.
