The Body Works In Mysterious Ways to Maintain Health
In previous posts, I mentioned that the body has an Innate Intelligence, which is a mechanism that directs all processes within all bodily systems, organs and tissues. It’s the mechanism that allows healing to take place in the body. Modern medicine has captured many people’s imaginations on the medical-pharmaceutical complex; however, the ultimate respect lies within the body’s innate wisdom.
The body maintains health and stimulates healing through what is termed homeostasis. Homeostasis is the mechanism of the body in bringing things back into balance. Balance is the key. When we are balanced on every level, whether it’s the right brain-left brain, our posture or the autonomic nervous system, things are kept on an even keel. Partly because of the reliance on drugs today, there is a tendency to continuously run for that “magic pill” rather than having confidence in the body’s ability to heal from within.
One of the things the body does is create symptoms to bring the body back to a state of equilibrium. So let’s examine some ways how the body achieves this balancing act.
Inflammation
What’s the first thing we are told to do if we have inflammation? Most of the time, we’re told to take nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medication. Or, in more severe cases, steroids are prescribed. Now there are times when these may be necessary. However, how often is it suggested that we wait and let the body do its job? Has anyone mentioned that inflammation may be normal? What is inflammation? This is something I learned in my first year of chiropractic college.
