I know about dementia first-hand. My mother passed away in 1995 with Alzheimer’s, which is a horrible, gradually progressive condition. While my mother made it to age 88, the last 10 years of her life was increasingly painful to watch.
You don’t need to be a psychiatrist to observe what is happening to the American President. I had dinner with a couple of people in the psychiatric field, and they remarked on Biden’s cognitive decline.
Biden’s handlers are doing their utmost to protect him by not allowing him to answer reporters’ questions. The President often slurs his speech, forgets what he was saying in mid-sentence, and is heard to say things like, “Where am I” or “They won’t let me”. On several occasions, his wife has had to direct him with, “This way Joe”.
In a recent Town Hall event on CNN, the moderator fed Biden softball questions and even helped extricate the President when he got stuck. When giving speeches, Biden has trouble at times reading off a teleprompter. Whether you like the man or not, it is so uncomfortable and sad to see this happening.
There is a test called the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA). It is a relatively short test composed of 30 questions that help assess people for dementia. To assuage people going on about Trump suffering from dementia, he took the test and aced it. If Biden took that test, he is likely to do poorly. The results would show that he is moderately demented. Interesting that no one seems to be asking him to take it.
How can this be going on in a U.S. Presidency, or more so, who is allowing it? We saw Biden’s mental woes during the campaign of 2020, yet he was still nominated to contest the election against Trump. Why would any wife allow her husband to run when is such a mental state?
Of course, we know that Biden—embarrassing or not-–is an avatar for the forces within the administration that are really calling the shots—the destructive policies. Many of the exemplary achievements by Trump are now in disarray.
A surge in energy prices, a southern border invasion by illegals, a disastrous exit from Afghanistan and targeting of everyday Americans as domestic terrorists is seeing a collapse of the Biden Presidency. In 10 short months, a President––not of sound mind––, is showing us how quickly he can destroy the fabric of American life. That’s without the whole Covid debacle.
So why should that matter to an Australian like me? What happens in America has a global reach. Inflation is increasing markedly in Australia. This past week, gasoline prices hit $1.90 a litre. For my American friends, that is $5.47 a gallon.
Internationally, China and Russia must be laughing at the American decline. As an Australian, suddenly, I think that we are less secure.
Surely the Americans will come to their senses and invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Biden. But look who is waiting in the wings? None other than Kamala Harris, who is not only very unpopular but totally out of her depth.
But wait, all may not be lost. Last week, it appears that Americans in the Commonwealth of Virginia had enough. They elected a raft of Republicans in a Democratic state, including a new Governor Youngkin. Similar off-peak elections took place in other states. In Virginia, as in most other states, most counties vote Republican. In fact, the majority of America is right of centre. You would never know that based on what you hear in the media.
80% of Virginia counties are red (Republican)
There were critical local issues at play. Critical race theory taught in classes incensed parents. However, perhaps the actual trigger for many was the image of a girl’s father being tackled and arrested by police at a school board meeting. What was his crime? He vented his anger because his daughter was raped by a transgender girl—really still a boy—in a girl’s bathroom. Yet, the school did nothing about the assault.
Make no mistake, the Virginian election, and to a lesser degree, the one for Governor of New Jersey is a referendum on the Biden Presidency. You can only dupe the people so far. It’s evident to many that Biden is the most impaired President in U.S. history. Even Democratic voters are rising up. They realize that they’ve been had.
America run by a President with dementia? Displaying such a leader on the world stage? Perhaps Americans are now wide-eyed and waking up to this folly.
In Australia, we will be keenly interested in what happens in the mid-term election in November 2022. It will have a bearing on what happens down under.
