Successful Relationships Are Due To More Than Good Luck
How often do we hear people remarking that so-and-so have a successful marriage and "aren't they lucky". Really, luck has nothing to do with it. I hear from many people who are turned off marriage. Many young people are not getting married. In the West, women seek careers and often do not want to be tied down in a committed relationship, nor do they want to be burdened by children.
So, it's evident that the marriage rate has decreased significantly in the past 50 years. Charting the marriage rate in Australia and the United States, we see a dramatic decline.
So many people today are living together but not marrying; however, the illusion that this is somehow better is shattered in many cases. The reason marriages fail is the same reason that de facto relationships fail, and it comes down to one underlying fact––mismatched values.
