So What Did We Learn From The Mid-Term U.S. election?
The mid-term election had to be bizarre on many levels.
Some people would say the U.S. mid-term election was a bust. Republicans––if they’re honest–– would be disappointed. The Democrats must feel like winners.
Some of the races leave you shaking your head. John Fetterman easily won the Senate race in Pennsylvania. The problem is the man has a brain injury from a stroke. How could anyone vote for this man? Many are shaking their heads about this one. Are Pennsylvanians that stupid? I spent a lot of time in Pennsylvania in the 60s and 70s. I thought the people were hardworking, reasonable people. Well, that was then, and this is now. So who knows what goes through people’s minds?
The U.S. has gone backwards the past two years since Democrats have controlled all branches of the government. Do people vote against their better self-interest? Perhaps it’s not surprising because Australia voted in a left-wing government determined to eliminate fossil fuels, much like the Democrat agenda.
Real wages and income have been dropping under Biden.
Looking at the basket of average essential items, these have gone up significantly. Voters in many states could care less.
From the October CPI
In Arizona, Kari Lake, a dynamic and very articulate up-and-coming candidate, lost out to Katie Hobbs. She, by the way, was the Secretary of State for Arizona. The Secretary of State certifies the election results. So she will be certifying her victory. Strange. Strange, too, that Hobbs wouldn’t debate Lake and mostly kept herself hidden away. It seems to be a strategy that works. It certainly worked for Biden.
Despite the terrible state of inflation, the cost of gas at the pump, and the invasion at the border with illegals, people voted against their self-interest. They even supported candidates who favour abortion until birth. Yes, currently, nine states allow abortion until birth. How extreme is that? It turns out that people do vote according to what it most important in their value system.
Democrats managed to convince many women that Republicans were threatening their right to an abortion. This is not what happened with the Supreme Court overturning Roe versus Wade. It merely acknowledged that abortion is a state issue.
As these two CNN exit polls demonstrated, the abortion issue may have had an enormous impact that many are unwilling to acknowledge.
The striking thing is unmarried women are decidedly in the Democrat camp. This demographic is increasing yearly. Also, this group overwhelmingly support abortion without restriction.
I don't know how much this affected voting, but illegals are voting in some states if they can acquire a driving license. Since Biden's inauguration, more than 4 million illegals have entered the southern border. Most of these people are Hispanic. If the trend continues, by the time of the 2024 Presidential election, there could be 9 million additional illegals. How would these people vote? Democrat, of course.
The bottom line is that the election cements the fact that America is divided, much like a married couple with irreconcilable differences. Is it time to realize that all the effort with elections is much like "flogging a dead horse"? Not too much changes overall. There are too many extraneous influences on outcomes, whether it's corrupt election processes or the overarching influence of Big Tech in determining results.
Now we have Trump again entering the picture, announcing his run for the 2024 Presidential election. There's no surprise there. Trump claimed that he would unite Americans. Now, where have we heard that before? It's from none other than the great disuniter––Joe Biden. What goes round comes round. If Trump can do it in such a polarized America, he would be a miracle worker. Do you believe in miracles?
"Democrats managed to convince many women that Republicans were threatening their right to an abortion. "
Yup. And that turned the tide. It made single-issue voters out of a significant number of people, particularly unmarried women. Republicans did nothing to counter it either. In fact, quite a few of them doubled down on outright bans. Whether that's right and moral or not is irrelevant; it's a sure way to lose an election.
We learned the fraud continues.
