My Healthy Lifestyle Regime
Why do certain people do all the right things, and good health evades them? Then other people appear to do all the “wrong” things and live to a ripe old age despite their disregard for their bodies.
As a healthcare professional, I have seen this scenario all too often. We’re told: don’t smoke, drink, eat too many carbs, exercise, minimize stress, etcetera, etcetera. It’s all sound advice.
People want guarantees and to feel they are doing the right thing. Well, the “right” thing for one person may be the wrong thing for someone else.
In chiropractic philosophy, a principle states, “There is an innate awareness of every innate need”. The wisdom within you sends signals about what you need. We are all individual, multifaceted organisms. I’ll give you a couple of examples.
For decades, I have been allergic to chilli. People say to me things like, “You poor thing”. I don’t feel poor at all. I enjoy my food without chilli. My body lets me know about it if I get close to chilli.
Another example is the Covid-19 shots. Some people took these without so much as a twinge. Still, many had moderate reactions; some—we know about 7%—had reactions bad enough to seek medical attention. Some really unlucky ones ended up dying, which we now know to be a significant number of people.
So what is one to do? Base the positive things you do with your body on sound principles. Think of your body like a bank account with deposits and withdrawals, not of money, but of actions that enhance health or detract from it.
Also, recognize that doing positive things for your body will have some negative consequences. An example is sore muscles when you start exercising or change the form of exercise.
I will tell you my regime, keeping in mind that I am 77, 5’6”, and weigh 136 lbs (167 cm and 62 kilos). See if you can apply this in your healthy regime.
