Further to my previous newsletter, today we did some hiking. Here are some more photos from my travels in southwest Australia.
This lighthouse overlooks the vast expanse of the Indian Ocean on Cape Naturaliste. Straight out over the ocean, 5000 miles away, is Capetown, South Africa. Nearby is the beautiful Wise winery, which sits high on a hill and has excellent ocean views. We took a break from our hike to indulge in a lovely lunch and enjoyed one of Wise's excellent wines.
Next, about a 20-minute drive down the coast, is Canal Rocks. The area has had an extensive collection of granite rocks and boulders which date back 700 million years. The rocky area forms channels through which the water flows. The ocean swells create thunderous waves that explode over the granite blocks, making it treacherous for those who venture out on the rocks. A few people have been swept away by waves, so caution is the best plan here.
Watching the action of the ocean reminds us of the power of nature and how little we humans are in the scheme of things. It's something we should keep in mind.
Another positive feature of our travels today was that we didn't see anyone wearing a mask outside at Canal Rocks or Cape Naturaliste.
Ahhh Wise Winery! Stayed there a few times. Fabulous. Also, try Lenton Brae, Moss Bros - Too many too list!
These are interesting Ely. Thanks for posting.
