Joe Biden Engaging in Doublespeak On Immigration And Other Matters
A typical spin that President Joe Biden puts on things is something all tyrants do. Yes, Biden behaves like a tyrant, though people behind him pull the strings.
Recently, in the State of the Union speech, Biden used the term, "illegal migrants". He was raked over the coals by his democratic colleagues, admonishing him for using the term. Biden then corrected himself, stating he had made a mistake and should have used the term "undocumented".
Totalitarian regimes will use doublespeak, whereby words lose their meaning and become obscured. Illegal becomes undocumented, global warming becomes climate change, and a man becomes a woman.
Biden can engage in all the word gymnastics he wants; he should read the Homeland Security Act of 2002 code.
§1103. Powers and duties of the Secretary, the Under Secretary, and the Attorney General
The Secretary of Homeland Security has the following duty outlined under USC 1103 of Homeland Security.
"(5) He shall have the power and duty to control and guard the boundaries and borders of the United States against the illegal entry of aliens and shall, in his discretion, appoint for that purpose such number of employees of the Service as to him shall appear necessary and proper."
The words are very clear; "illegal entry of aliens".
In just over a week I will be visiting the United States. I am required to enter on an Australian passport and have filled out an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA). Once I arrive, I will be fingerprinted, and facial scanning will be performed. This is the way of legal entry to the United States.
Legal and illegal refer to a person's status, while the process to get to the status includes passports, visas, fingerprinting and scans. "Undocumented" is a process of not have any of the legal requirements, so these people have entered the country illegally.
Guess who has the power to enforce legal immigration. It's the Secretary of Homeland Security, who currently is Alejandro Mayorkas. For Mayorkas and Biden to state that they cannot do anything because the opposition won't pass a law is political obfuscation. The Secretary of Homeland Security has the duty and power to enforce the law; it's right there in the law.
The doublespeak has been pervasive throughout the tenure of the current regime. Another example from the State of the Union is the claim that inflation has been brought down. They fail to tell you that it's a relative reduction. Take a look at mortgage rates.
In fact, housing rates are two and a half times what they were when Biden took over as President. It's been a disaster for many homeowners. Biden set up the conditions for runaway inflation; he is responsible.
The big joke is when Biden says Trump is a threat to democracy; Trump will destroy democracy. Wait a minute, didn't Biden get voted in as President? Didn't Biden overturn most of Trump's good or bad policies?
That old meme, "Accusing others of what you are doing," applies here.
Joe Biden and his colleagues are masters of doublespeak in the tradition of authoritarian regimes from the past.
