Have Events Today Brought Us Into The Twilight Zone?

If you're old enough like me, you'd remember the iconic TV series from the late 1950s and early 1960s, hosted and written by Rod Serling. The introduction started like this:

"There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call The Twilight Zone."

The series was about people caught between reality and fantasy, between sanity and insanity, the borderline zone of the unfathomable. The episodes had a surreal quality and topics that spoke to the morality of human experience. 

The poster above reflects that we live in some alternate universe where up is down and down is up. The authorities have no self-reflection, including the Nobel Prize people who commented on the recent award for developing the mRNA vaccine technology. A committee member has no qualms about saying "the vaccine is safe and efficient".

This is nothing new for the Nobel committee in recent years. After all, they gave Obama the peace prize before he could do anything. So the criterion is if you do nothing, you get a bonus. Still, if you create unintended consequences––the vaccine––you're a benefactor of the prize. Meanwhile, when Trump was president, he created a peaceful environment for four years––no prize was given.

They said with straight faces that they didn't force you to wear a mask, lock you down, destroy your businesses, or cause you to lose your job. No, sir, they now say you didn't have to take the experimental vaccine. They'll now gaslight you if you dare to say anything different.

You could devote a whole episode of The Twilight Zone to the subject of illegal immigration. At the current rate of millions a year flowing into the United States and Europe in the past few years, no one asks whether such a policy is advisable.

In this futuristic episode, a man or woman may wake up and find they are surrounded by people who have illegally invaded the United States without questioning whether it's a good idea. So, how many people should America take in? Fifty million, 100 million, a billion or 5 billion? There is not enough housing for these people, nor are there jobs. Many of these people are illiterate and can only do the most menial tasks. 

In this world of overflowing, crime-ridden cities, people are openly defecating and urinating on the streets. This is already happening. This is all encouraged by sanctuary cities. Most of America's large cities are a haven for illegal aliens. This means that people with no right to be in the country are untouchable. Making this more bizarre is that the people instituting these welcoming policies are now complaining about the "illegal" problem, such as New York's mayor, Eric Adams.

In the world of the Twilight Zone, rationality may be non-existent.

Even in Australia, where there is a housing crisis of record high prices, despite rising interest rates, the government has decided to take immigration levels to record levels.

The median house price in Sydney exceeds $1.1 million!

As if all these events aren't enough, we now don't know the difference between a man and a woman. Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson couldn't define a woman at her confirmation hearings.

We're in that bizarre zone where the lines between reality and fantasy are blurred.
