Even Sport Can't Escape The Wrath Of Covid
Once upon a time, sport used to be just about sport. The athletes rarely complained; there were no social media to vent their latest grievances; they just got on with the job.
It takes me back to a sporting event that happened on Sunday, December 31, 1967, referred to as the "Ice Bowl". It was the Championship game of the American National Football League. This day was cold—frigid, in fact. The temperature plummeted to -16°F (-27°C) with a wind chill of -40 below zero. Late in the game, the wind chill hit an astounding -57°C! Several players sustained frostbite, and the referee had to stop using the whistle as it froze to his lips.
So what was the average football player earning in 1967? The amount was a paltry $20,000; many players took on second jobs to make ends meet. Today the average player earns multi-millions. Yet today, many players act as if they are suffering some injustice.
One such individual is Colin Kaepernick. Several years ago, he started the whole kneeling craze during the national anthem to protest American racism and oppression. To see someone so privileged as an American complaining about oppression is an insult to those who were genuinely oppressed decades ago. Kaepernick garnered notoriety for his protests, certainly not for his playing.
Of course it wasn’t long before Covid entered the fray. Recently, other players and the media have denounced a top player, Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers. What was his crime? He came down with a mild case of Covid, which resolved after a few days. He was using an Ivermectin protocol and announced that he wasn't vaccinated, nor had he worn a mask; not that masks work.
Rodgers stated, "I am somebody who's a critical thinker. I believe strongly in bodily autonomy and the ability to make choices for your body." Well, imagine that, someone who thinks for himself. He assessed the risk as a 37-year-old and decided he has little chance of dying from Covid but a greater risk from the vaccines. We hear of more and more young people experiencing heart conditions. Conditions such as arrhythmias, myocarditis, pericarditis and full-on heart attacks are happening with increasing frequency. This is especially true as the young are targeted for the jabs.
From Germany, there are reports of many soccer players experiencing heart conditions.
The Austrian government in its Fact Sheet shows a surge in excess mortality among young males in 2021. Those 14 and under have not seen this effect. Why? An obvious factor is because these children have not been vaccinated. However, if the authorities have their way, you will likely see excess mortality in this group as they get jabbed more and more.
Any serious scientist and doctor now acknowledge that these vaccines don't work against the Delta strain, and in the young, they are creating a possible catastrophe. I recently heard from a young person I know who is experiencing abnormal cardiac symptoms after his first injection.
If you ask me, I think Aaron Rodgers is onto something. It's time for sports figures and their media enablers to get out of the health business and stick to sports. Otherwise, Covid is just another excuse for people to stop watching high priced, pampered athletes.
