Another country launched a war on Israel. When Israel retaliates, the world screams genocide. Israel is held to a standard applied to no other country. It’s supposed to tiptoe around Gaza with one hand tied behind its back. What other country would do so? Can you imagine what people’s reaction would have been during World War 2 if such restrictions had been applied to the fight against Hitler?
Israel’s rules of engagement specify to avoid civilian casualties where at all possible—often to the detriment of its own soldiers. War crimes, the antisemites scream. Firing thousands of rockets indiscriminately into Israeli cities since 2007 is a war crime. Firing rockets into another country is, in fact, an act of war. Raping and mutilating civilians, as Hamas has done, is a war crime.
