Australians have a habit of treating America with condescension. Many Australians feel that they are somehow morally superior. Unfortunately, the reality of the past three years has dispelled that fact. We saw it in Covid policy with the oppressive and ineffective lockdown policies along with the damage done to so many people from the jabs. We had the shameful actions of what is supposedly a democracy behave in an authoritarian manner. Did anyone pay a price? Of course not.
More recently, we’ve had antisemitic demonstrations playing out on the streets of Sydney and Melbourne. What was incredibly disgusting were the chants of “Gas the Jews”. Would Australia tolerate chants of “Gas the ……”? You can fill in the blank with your choice of race or nationality.
The recent outpouring of antisemitism is not just an Australian problem but a worldwide stain on our humanity. Demonstrations which are quite inflammatory have seen millions take to the streets literally on behalf of Hamas, with little regard to the atrocities that were committed by what can only be described as a death cult, where the end justifies the mean. This is a terrifying indication of what it looks like for a population to lose its humanity with a loss of empathy for others. However, since I live in Australia and pay my taxes, I am calling Australia out.
When you watch people celebrate the total disregard for the suffering of other people in the most horrific way as meaningful or even authentic, there is a word for that––sociopathy and the people committing the acts are psychopaths to a degree rarely seen.
The fact that people have made excuses for those celebrating atrocities should make people think about where our society is going. It doesn’t look good, and our politicians are complicit in this evil.
This is much like a parent abusing––perhaps sexually––a child, and instead of recognizing that the child is the victim, we have made the abuser a victim. It’s like taking a child to get psychological therapy, but instead, the psychologist vilifies the child. In this dystopian world, the victim becomes the abuser.
Why is Australia tolerating the calls in Sydney to gas Jews repeated over and over? This is a clear racially motivated incitement to commit crimes against one particular racial group. Where is the action taken by the government? Instead, we get moral equivalency, or by not calling the atrocities out in the most emphatic terms, it’s moral ambivalence, which by default becomes moral equivalency.
Australia does have a Racial Vilification Law. However, what is the point of a law if it’s not upheld and people who breach the law are not prosecuted. I venture to say that the law would be applied if hate was directed at any other ethnic group. However, if you are a Jew, you are easy fodder for the racists and excuses by politicians.
Perhaps it shouldn’t be surprising because a video has surfaced of our Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese showing his true colours in support at a pro-Palestinian rally some years ago. We can see where his loyalties lie.
Racial Vilification Law in Australia
We do not have totally free speech in Australia, though it appears this law has no teeth. At best, a person can be fined, which is hardly a deterrent.
It is unlawful
for a person to do an act, otherwise than in private, if:
(a) the act is reasonably likely in all the circumstances to offend,
insult, humiliate or intimidate another person or group of people,
and
(b) the act is done because of the race, colour or national or ethnic
origin of the other person or some or all of the people in the group.
Unfortunately, it seems too few Australians care, which means we empower the evil-doers in our society.
Then there is the issue of Iran. Why do we have diplomatic relations with such a terror state? Iran does not even remotely have any claim to Israel. Then there is the issue of China—right out of the Palestinian playbook.
Israel omitted from online maps in China amid war on Hamas in Gaza
What’s at stake here is a battle for civilization itself. In tolerating Hamas and giving its barbarism any moral equivalency is to take us back to the Dark Ages.
The last few years have proven that Aussies are freaking sheep! Prove me wrong!!! You can’t!
Such laziness, evilness. Israel not on map is outrageous! Thanks for the information.
