All The Signs are There: The West Is In Decline

The West is losing its babies. What I mean is the birth rates are way down. We know that the Covid shots have had an impact, but the decline has happened for some time. Some change is due to environmental chemicals, but much concerns societal changes.

We know that as people become more educated, they have smaller families. We also know that today, in most families, both parents have to work, which means parenting is more challenging with children present. Many are in relationships but either reject long-term commitments or, as we found out in the case of women, many are focused on their careers. Many today don’t want to bring up children. It may be a selfish reason, but it’s a factor.

A fascinating statistic was released recently from the Pew Research Group.

One-quarter of those reaching age 40 have never been married. This was confirmed recently when my wife and I were travelling in Europe. We met several groups of women who complained that most men only want short-term relationships without marital commitment.

Then if we look at the statistics from the G7 list of countries––not including China: the United States, Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, and Japan are showing substantial declines in fertility.

Studies, including the one below, show that male infertility has increased in the past few decades.

A population-level decline in serum testosterone levels in American men

The men of 50 years ago, both young and old, had significantly higher testosterone levels than today. What's the reason for this?

We know that exercise enhances testosterone production. Today, many are sitting at computers, overeating––higher carbohydrate diets diminish testosterone production––, and there is now a feminization of males in Western society. In addition, female hormones like estrogen have entered the food chain. This and other factors depress sperm counts and lead to greater infertility.

Of course, these changes and the previously mentioned societal changes drastically affect fertility. This doesn't bode well for many countries in the West. As the ageing baby boomer population dies off, fewer in upcoming generations will replace those individuals. At the same time, European countries, along with America, are importing many illegal immigrants, often with no hope of useful employment.

We are trying to blend varying cultures and value systems at a very rapid rate. This sets up things on a collision course. Immigration has to be done slowly so that people from other cultures can adapt to their adopted countries.

I remember the images of the European migration into Ellis Island in New York. The people who disembarked from the ships often kissed the ground when they landed in America. They became Americans. Many immigrants in Europe show no allegiance to their new homes. In fact, they resent their adopted country.

This has been made stark by the riots in France. Hordes of Muslim men in that country have no intention of adopting French values. Journalist Ezra Levant was recently in Marseille and interviewed several Muslim men, confirming their intention to continue showing allegiance to Islam or their former countries.

The question is, what happens with time. The people from the North African Islamic countries procreate more rapidly. The logical conclusion is that eventually, 25 or 50 years from now, these populations will dominate, and several Western countries that were once bastions of safe and orderly societies may be plunged into permanent civil strife.

The Western culture, as we know it, may disappear. It depends on whether or not leaders have the political will to combat this trend.
