In many ways, 2021 shook us to our core. For many, it challenged existing values about life, liberty, bodily autonomy and society as a whole.
While a year encompasses many events, several stood out in my mind.
The year saw the largest protests since the Vietnam era.
In 2021 protests erupted in many countries and with regularity. The focus was the mandating of Covid-19 vaccination, lockdowns and the implementation of Vaccine Passports as a form of social control.
In Australia, the protests saw hundreds of thousands of people march over draconian measures that stifled typical social exchange and business operations.
Both vaccinated, and non-vaccinated attended the protests. The issue is not really the vaccines; it is about government power and control and a loss of our freedoms.
The introduction of vaccines that weren't vaccines.
The year saw perhaps the greatest sleight of hand in medical history. The promise was of new genetic technology vaccines to give people immunity against the virus known as Covid-19. Reality didn't meet expectations.
The reality was that the injections only provided short-term immunity that waned within six months. It not only failed to immunize, it generated escape mutants like Delta.
Look at the world meter number or Covid deaths:
They may be injections, but they are not vaccines. In 2020, there were no vaccines. In 2021, with billions of doses given, the Covid deaths are over twice as many as 2020. So what did we achieve? Not much. Cases are surging once again in many countries.
They may be injections but definitely not vaccines.
The first inaugurated U.S. President who is a puppet.
Joe Biden is not running the United States. He is a frontman. His cognitive skills do not render him capable of running a local garage, let alone a country. I don't say this lightly as I saw Alzheimer's in my family.
Biden has lost much of his cognition. It is both sad and embarrassing to watch his decline. In 2021, this was becoming evident even to his supporters. Besides the garbled language and losing his place in a sentence, we often heard utterances like these:
"They won't let me say this. "
"Where do I go?"
"Where was I?"
Clearly, someone else is running America. Who is the big question.
Australia Shamed Itself In 2021.
Usually, Australia doesn't make a lot of news overseas. This year we sure did––all for the wrong reasons. This year was the first time I heard people in Australia say that they are ashamed of being an Australian. The images of elderly being abused by police for not wearing masks or flouting a lockdown were reprehensible. Many such images were transmitted globally.
The repressive, totalitarian Acts were hard to believe. I met several people from Eastern Europe who immigrated to Australia. They were suffering Post-Traumatic Stress from having to deal anew with what they had left.
Australian leaders, by their actions, would have made the Communist leaders behind the Iron Curtain proud.
The 2021 Inflation Surge
The policies of the Biden Presidency have been disastrous. Economically America is run by incompetents, or perhaps it is intentional. Behind Biden are many left-wing ideologues pushing policies that were destined to achieve the results we are seeing now.
It was predictable what would happen with unthinkable government spending and money printing. Then there is the shutting down of oil exploration, stoppage of pipeline construction and generally an increasingly regulatory environment.
The Producer Price Index (PPI) or wholesale prices increased by a record 9.7% year over year.
Consumer prices are at an annualized rate of 7.2% in America. In reality, they are in double digits. Have you seen fuel prices lately? The other day I paid $2.00 a litre ($5.47 U.S. gallon) for Premium Unleaded. The impact of the policies is global.
Good luck to those having to heat their homes this northern hemisphere winter. Prices are up 45%!
China Is Strong; The U.S. Is Weak.
From the onset of the year, China humiliated the U.S. Secretary of State during talks in Alaska. China is embarked on a warp-speed military build-up. It has the largest army and navy in the world. It is building advanced fighter aircraft to rival those of the U.S. They are increasing their arsenal of nuclear missiles, put killer satellites in orbit, and have hypersonic weapons that the U.S. does not possess.
Meanwhile, America is bogged down in the woke culture, which has spread to the military. Rather than create an effective fighting machine, the military is obsessed with "white supremacy", transgenderism in the military and "equity"––whatever that means.
I don't think China is worried about addressing "Asian supremacy". Who do you think would win in a confrontation?
Economically, we know that most items today are made in China. But here's another sobering statistic. Comparing net foreign assets, we see the difference.
China's net foreign assets are $25.82 trillion; the U.S. -$125, 482 trillion––borrowing exceed asset value. SOURCES: International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
The U.S. is heavily indebted. Meanwhile, China continues to spread its economic influence globally.
The tearing down of womens' sport.
Transgenderism is infiltrating womens' and girls' sport in the West. There are no more boundaries, and the result is that women are essentially competing with men who call themselves women. Take the case of Lia Thomas. She (formerly he) defeated women in swimming with ease.
This is unfair and a violation of norms that has exploded in 2021.
Someone needs to teach doctors and politicians that there are differences in the biological make-up between males and females. It should be a no-brainer. But, here we are.
Many other significant events occurred in 2021. You may have your own list.
Very well said and reported, Ely. Bravo. Keep it up!
Holy moly—the 2021 COVID deaths were more than DOUBLE 2020’s, and this year isn’t even over yet?! Can you provide the link for those stats? Thanks, Ely!
