We Need To Accept Healthy Longevity As Normal, Not Sickness And Disease
It's fascinating that chiropractors were trashed by the medical profession for years. They scoffed at the philosophy, stating that you'll function better when your spine is aligned correctly. The body can heal itself from many ailments. They also scoffed at prevention and spinal maintenance as a way forward in health maintenance.
What amazes me today is how several doctors are talking the chiropractic language. Recently, I heard a neurosurgeon talk about the importance of correcting how the spine works instead of fixing a problem after the fact.
In the image above, which vehicle performs better, the Model T on the right or the Ferrari on the left? The Ferrari has a much better structure with a lower drag coefficient, making it faster and needing less fuel when driven at comparable speeds, though it's a high-powered car. The Ferrari has more stability because it has a lower centre of gravity. Your body is much the same, except your body isn't an inanimate structure; it's a biomechanical machine.
Which one of these structures is in a healthy biomechanical state?
The answer is obvious.
We know that our genes can play a role in health, but overemphasis has been placed on genetics. It's also known what we do or don't do can turn genes on or off. This is established science.
Too much traditional medicine has focused on "treating" after the fact. A patient comes in and gets diagnosed with a condition, for example, high blood pressure. Other than being given pills to lower the blood pressure, most doctors don't ask the question as to why this person has high blood pressure. If they did, people might not need that medication. Unfortunately, today's corporatization of medicine doesn't allow for much extraneous dialogue.
The secret lies in The 5 Pillars of Health.
