Tyrants only have power as long as we give them the power. Unfortunately, in the West, people in countries like Australia, America and Canada are just too comfortable. They also think they cannot change anything, so they accept things as usual. They also believe the messages that the tyrants put out over and over. However, in time, even the most oppressive regimes can fall. Let's look at Eastern Europe.
Throughout my lifetime, I only knew that there was a communist Soviet Union along with its satellite states: Poland, Hungary, Romania, Czechoslovakia and others. We lived in a world where both the Soviet Union and America had nuclear weapons. So, through the Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD) principle, we had a standoff between two polar opposite ideologies. That was the way of the world, and so it would be throughout the rest of my lifetime––until it wasn't.
The reason that communism collapsed was that the people started demanding change, especially initially in Poland, where Lech Walesa was elected as a non-Communist. That started the ball rolling.
By the late 80s, the Soviet Union was an economic basket case, spurred on by trying to compete with Reagan's America. So, the Eastern Bloc communist countries collapsed like dominos. We had the incredible site of East Germans tearing down the Berlin Wall with the soldiers laying down their arms and joining the revolution. It was a nonviolent revolution.
You've heard the line, "If the why is big enough, the how will follow." I don't know who created that, but I have heard it several times. The problem is that in places like Australia, where I reside, the "Why" was not big enough during COVID-19.
During the height of Covid with the lockdowns, masks and vaccine mandates, I went to a few rallies in Perth, and I thought, wow, all these people, we must be 20,000 strong. Indeed, the government would have to take notice and relent. Of course, most people didn't share our concerns. They considered us radical anti-vaxers, so they willingly submitted to every edict put out by our state governments. We were small numbers, as evidenced by the high compliance rate—close to 90% took the initial vaccine protocol.
As I mentioned in a previous post, the Australian government lauded a couple of the worst tyrants, the premiers of Western Australia and Victoria, with the Order of Australia honours and medals. It's part of the upside-down world we live in today.
Unfortunately, considerable blame has to go to the healthcare workers, including doctors, nurses, dentists, chiropractors, and others across the country. They are part of the people and could have made a significant impact as health professionals. In 2020, when COVID hit, there were 105,000 medical doctors in Australia. If even 50% of them stood up and marched against the government's mandates, the government would have had to relent. There is no way they would have fired all those health professionals because the whole medical-hospital system would have collapsed. Instead, out of fear, these professionals relented.
It's the same old story. Doctors make a pretty good income, which makes them reasonably comfortable, and they don't want to give up their lifestyle. There are many now who regretted taking the COVID-19 shots because a number of them have sustained injuries, and there are some documented cases of deaths following the vaccines.
The problem is that most doctors have no idea what is involved in the vaccine industry. They swallow the mantra about safety and effectiveness and that the COVID shots would save millions of lives. This is untrue; it didn't take long after the rollout for anyone to see that this was a medical disaster in the making. Scott Atlas, appointed to join the Trump Covid Task Force, has written about his time there. Recently, he posted on X the lies that keep being perpetuated by Anthony Fauci.
At this point in time, most people want to put the whole Covid issue in the rearview mirror. The problem is that those of us who opposed the dictates from the beginning are still in the minority. Too many people still believe that the authorities knew and still know what they are doing. Despite all the vaccine injuries and lives disrupted, people will fight you to the death about the magical powers of the COVID-19 vaccines.
Thankfully, there are a few bright lights in the wilderness, such as the Attorney General of the state of Kansas, Chris Kobach, who has initiated legal action.
Yes, taking action against Pfizer and others for fraud is the only way justice will be served. Action is also taking place in Florida, where a Grand Jury was empanelled last year to look at wrongdoing concerning Covid policies. To date, only a preliminary report has been released.
Nothing will substantially change unless the people rise up and demand change instead of following like sheeple the politicians and medical bureaucrats. So nothing will change when the next 'crisis' comes along, whether it's an infectious illness or climate 'emergency'.
Well said Ely..
Ely, well done, you have focussed on the one premise we Voluntaryists start from: governments--any would be "legitimate" rulers--can only rule if the ruled allow them to by believing in their moral right to rule.
“Resolve to serve no more, and you are at once freed. I do not ask that you place hands upon the tyrant to topple him over, but simply that you support him no longer; then you will behold him, like a great Colossus whose pedestal has been pulled away, fall of his own weight and break into pieces.” Étienne de La Boétie, The Politics of Obedience: The Discourse of Voluntary Servitude
No one rules if no one obeys.
